Discussion with Florence Parly, French Minister of the Armed Forces : New Threats, New Responsibilities : Europe and its Security (HCSS, Den Haag, 25th June 2021)


On Friday, June 25th, French Defence Minister Florence Parly will be interviewed by Han ten Broeke of HCSS on what France, The Netherlands and Europe should derive from this NATO-summit, that was marked by a press release of a mere 79 paragraphs and the American President Biden reassuring that the United States “are back”.

How should Europe position itself in view of new challenges arising by 2030 in its immediate environment ? How to advance defence cooperation between European Member States ?

Four short discussions will focus on (i) the relations between EU and NATO including the issue of funding, (ii) China/Pacific and the Freedom of Navigation (iii) Cyber and the The Paris Call for Trust and Security in Cyberspace, (iv) space.

And we will hear and discuss with Florence Parly the main priorities in the field of defence of the upcoming French presidency of the EU.
