Make Our Planet Great Again proposes 4 programs to welcome international students and researchers in France in the area of earth systems, climate change and sustainability, and the energy transition.

Master’s excellence grants

Master’s excellence grants : France’s ministries of Europe and foreign affairs (MEAE) and of higher education, research, and innovation (MESRI) have implemented a program to encourage international students to pursue master’s-level training (50 scholarships)

Who may apply?

International students may apply for support for one or two years of study toward a master’s degree by including in their application a letter of admission to a master’s program (first or second year) at a French institution of higher education.

Eligibility
- Students must possess or be pursuing a French licence or an equivalent undergraduate degree (Bachelor)
- must not be French nationals
- and must not have resided in France after April 1, 2016.
- They must enroll in the master’s program before October 15, 2018.

Co-financing of 3-year doctoral contracts

Co-financing of 3-year doctoral contracts: France’s ministries of Europe and foreign affairs (MEAE) and of higher education, research, and innovation (MESRI) have implemented a program of support for foreign doctoral candidates wishing to complete a PhD in France (20 scholarships)

Who may apply?

This call is open to French institutions of higher education and research, not to students at the first phase. The selected institutions will receive a co-financing subsidy of €50,000, payable over three years, to recruit and support a doctoral candidate under a work contract.

Selection of doctoral candidates
- Doctoral candidates will be selected by the supported French institutions.
- To be eligible, students must possess a master’s degree or be enrolled in a master-level program, must not be French nationals, and must not have resided in France after April 1, 2016.
- The doctoral contract must take effect no later than December 31, 2018.

Co-financing of 12- to 24-month postdoctoral research contracts

Co-financing of 12- to 24-month postdoctoral research contracts: France’s ministries of Europe and foreign affairs (MEAE) and of higher education, research, and innovation (MESRI) have implemented a program of support for foreign postdoctoral researchers wishing to conduct further research in France (20 scholarships)

Who may apply?

Foreign researchers holding a doctoral degree are encouraged to respond to this call for proposals.
Candidates must include with their application a letter from a French host institution agreeing to co-finance the candidate’s research.
Institutions hosting the selected researchers will receive co-financing in the amount of €2,083 per month to support the candidates’ research over a period of 12 to 24 months.

Eligibility
- Candidates must possess a doctoral degree or expect to receive the degree by June 30, 2018.
- They must not be French nationals and must not have resided in France after April 1, 2016.
- The postdoctoral contract must take effect no later than December 31, 2018.

Short stays (14 days to 5 months) for foreign researchers

Short stays (14 days to 5 months) for foreign researchers: France’s ministries of Europe and foreign affairs (MEAE) and of higher education, research, and innovation (MESRI) have implemented a program to support short stays in French research institutions for foreign scientists seeking to do research on a topic related to earth systems, climate change and sustainability, or the energy transition.(40 scholarships)

Who may apply?

Foreign research scientists are encouraged to respond to this call for proposals.
Candidates must include with their application a letter from a host institution in France.

Eligibility
- Candidates must possess or be working toward a doctoral degree and must be covered by an active research agreement or contract.
- They must not be French nationals, and must not have resided in France after April 1, 2016.
- The proposed period of research in France must not exceed five months and must take place between August 1 and December 31, 2018.
